Temples - in Bali – Etiquette

Temples in Bali is one of interesting tourism object,  however temple main function is worshiping God, and there are still some rules that anyone have to respect. A proper dress is needed, if you wear a long skirts or long pants you will need a sash to be tied in your waist, if you wear short skirt or short pants, better use sarong. Usually temples provide sash and sarong before you entering temple. Do not climb for the temple buildings and do no stand higher than a priest and make sure that you don’t stand directly into the priest.

I remind you, If people were praying, avoid between them and direction in when they are praying. If you bring any camera and wants to take some moment, make sure the flash is off. And I am sorry ladies, during menstruation you are not allowed to enter the temple. And woman who have recently given birth and her husband are banned form the temple ground since Balinese ancient scripture consider that giving birth and the presence a new family member upset the spiritual balance of the family but after 42 days they are allowed to enter. Persons who recently bereaved is also banned from the temples since the lost of a family member is also considered upsetting the spiritual balance of the family only after 42 days they are allowed to enter the temple.
