Balinese New Year – Nyepi Package at $875++

Experience the most important day of the Balinese year at the Elysian. Nyepi – the Day of Silence – is when the entire island comes to a hushed halt to celebrate the official Balinese Hindu New Year.

In the days prior to Nyepi, Bali displays all the color and pageantry of a western New Year’s Eve celebration. Walk to nearby Petittenget beach to watch the beautiful Melasti procession as thousands of Balinese dressed in white and yellow send offerings with prayers and song out to the ocean.

The night before Nyepi is full of street parades and beach ceremonies with giant effigies and fireworks while noisy musical celebrations and chants ward off evil spirits. In the evening, make your way back to the Elysian to prepare for the following day of complete silence.

This is the time to enjoy a relaxing two hours Traditional Balinese Massage Ritual, join in one of our meditation sessions or luxuriate in your private pool. Dine on our special Balinese New Year lunch and dinner and use this as the ideal time to reflect and relax.

* Please note that all guests must observe Nyepi and remain within the resort grounds for 24 hours from 6am, 16 March – 6am, 17 March. Although Nyepi is a Hindu holiday, non-Hindu residents of Bali also observe the day of silence out of respect for their fellow citizens. Guests are free to do as they wish inside the resort and move about freely; however, no one is allowed outside or onto the beaches or streets.
